The path from Vegas to Reno is widely known as the longest off-road races in the United States. This year’s race will see the ultimate off-road machine taking part. Chad Hall will take to the terrain behind the wheel of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, a pickup modified to handle anything nature has to offer. While the truck has been modified to meet safety requirements, it retains some vital components found in the ZR2 stock model.
The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will compete with a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. That combination delivers a hearty 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque to the road.
Hall Racing has taken the time to ensure driver safety is at its maximum. The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will compete with racing seats, safety harnesses, a roll cage, and two-way radios. Notably, the modified racing pickup will boast a 44-gallon fuel tank.
The modified 2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 allows the automaker to test out performance parts for both the standard Colorado and Colorado ZR2.
Vegas to Reno, a one-day race, stretches 550 miles across terrain that includes deserts, mountain passes, and lake beds. More than 350 drivers will compete in the race.
